  • Tidal Turbine Project Winds Up Successful First Round of Development
    14-Dec-2009

    Auckland, New Zealand Dec. 15, 2009 – World Energy Research (WER), an energy research and investment company, has announced close out of its first round of investment for a Scottish tidal turbine project. We are moving directly into Stage 2 of investment allocation.

    The energy technology company Blue Energy Canada Inc is conducting the tidal turbine experimental project with funding generated by a joint venture agreement with WER.

    The underwater turbine in development harnesses the power of the tides to create a source of clean, emissions-free energy. The first steps have been completed and the company is embarking on the next phase. Construction/Upscale of Blue Energy’s first large scale power plant (10/200MW) is slated for Scotland in 2012 at the site of one of the world’s best tidal energy sources.

    Some of the benefits of Blue Energy’s undersea turbine model include:

    •    The turbines require no fuel to operate;
    •    They run continually regardless of weather;
    •    Power output is predictable;
    •    The design is economical to build, install and maintain;
    •    It has a light ecological footprint.

    Another unique advantage it has over other tidal technologies being developed is the modules can be stacked and connected to form a bridge above the water line, thereby creating multiple functions and potential income sources.
