  • World Energy Research Extending Its Reach Around the Investment Globe
    04-May-2010

Auckland, New Zealand, May 4, 2010 - World Energy Research has taken the renewable investment world by storm. Their success and commitment to excellence is garnering the attention and funding from some of the largest energy investors in the world. This added investor capital is allowing them to further expand their already impressive energy portfolio. These new areas of the world will offer incredible opportunities.

WER has been very patient about picking and choosing their investments. This intelligent strategy has shown benefits for both the company and their investors. Their current projects have created a true windfall for their clients. Based on this success, they are seeing a rather impressive influx of investor capital. The company will now use its resources to expand to areas such as Bolivia, Chile and Ecuador to make the most of renewable opportunities available.

Bolivia presents significant opportunities. Most of the Bolivia’s resources have barely been tapped. The country has seen an increase in energy of about three percent, and recent expansions are expected to see that number climb even higher. Natural gas makes up about 25 percent of their current supply, but their resources are estimated to be significantly higher. Since they have a major dependence on oil, it is an ideal place to explore alternative energy sources such as solar and geothermal energy.

Chile may be one of the most unique opportunities, and expresses the greatest need. The growing demand for energy is well documented in Chile and the shortages have caused rather significant issues over the years. Both households and industry were negatively impacted in 1998 due to electrical shortages.  Their reliance on Argentina for natural gas came to a head in 2004-05. This caused a dramatic increase in prices. While biomass power is a definite possibility, the real attractive sector is wind. Chile shows massive potential here and it has barely been exploited.

WER plans on filling this gap in Chile, as the country has seen a steady increase in energy need of almost 7 percent per year for the last two decades. Their reliance on other countries is literally holding them prisoner to their supply chain. By implementing renewable energy sources, Chile could experience incredible growth.

Ecuador is yet another very promising opportunity for renewable energy. The country sees about a one percent increase in population every year and has a fossil fuel dependence of close to 90 percent, the largest of which is oil. The countries imported energy far outweighs their exporting and overall capabilities. The country has set a hefty goal of increasing their hydroelectricity usage to 80 percent in the next decade. This of course spells opportunity for WER and its investors.

Expanding their operations to all of these areas makes perfect sense for World Energy Research. The success that they have experienced in places such as Guatemala will surely be enjoyed in all three of these counties. Each country shows promising opportunities. With the rising population, along with their current dependence on other countries and fossil fuels, these new projects are destined for success.
