Oil and Natural Gas
The oil industry is stronger today than it has been in the past 150 years. With the natural gas market booming, the growing global demand for energy, and a shrinking supply, today's oil and gas market presents an invigorating and secure opportunity for investors. Many industry experts predict that by the year 2030, worldwide consumption of oil and gas will exceed 115 million barrels per day, 30 million barrels higher than are consumed daily today. This means that oil companies and their investors will make unheard of returns on their initial investment for at least another 20 years.
Solar Centers
The sun has produced energy for billions of years. Solar energy is free, and its supplies are unlimited. Every year, the Earth absorbs 3,850,000 exajoules (EJ) of solar energy. In one hour, the amount of energy absorbed by the planet's oceans and landmasses is more energy than the world consumes in an entire year. With lower costs and increased efficiency of solar technologies, solar energy is becoming a major player in the renewable energy industry.
Wind Turbine Energy
Wind will blow as long as the sun shines; as such it is a reliable, renewable energy resource, capable of providing the world with all of its energy needs. Wind power is the conversion of wind kinetic energy into mechanical energy through the use of wind turbines, a technology that has been in use for centuries. For over a decade, wind has been the world's fastest growing energy source on a percentage basis. The industry has been growing at 28% a year for the past five years, and if growth trends continue at this pace as is expected, wind capacity will double about every three or four years
Ocean Turbines
Covering more than 70% of the Earth's surface, the ocean is the world's largest untapped, renewable energy resource. It produces both mechanical energy from its tides and waves and thermal energy from the sun's heat. As new technologies are developed, ocean resources will be able to meet many of the world's energy needs. Experts estimate that 0.2% of the ocean's untapped energy could power the entire world.
Hydro Electricity
While Hydro Electricity is nothing new to the world, it has never been a means of energy that has been deeply pursued. That is, of course, until now. Over the last decade or so, there has been a larger emphasis on renewable energy sources and what people viewed as a novelty source of energy is quickly being realized as a legitimate source of electricity.
Bio Fuels
Investing in new energy is not only a smart thing to do but a profitable one as well. The challenging part of investing in energy is entering into the new prospect as it is still on the ground floor of the development process.
Geo Thermal
Energy is quickly becoming an attractive and viable investment venture for many people. The challenge lies in finding an energy source with great potential that has not yet hit its earning stride. Geothermal energy presents a technology that has the potential to provide as much as 10% of the United States energy alone and has yet to be fully explored.
Carbon
Carbon reduction technology is a reality of the world and while alternatives are being sought, they will always be an integral part of our energy solutions. Renewable energy is being developed like never before, but because of the nature of it, fossil fuels are often used as backup systems to even the most complex renewable energy sources. For this very reason, carbon reduction technology remains a viable option as an investment opportunity.
Nuclear Energy
Nuclear energy definitely got off on the wrong foot with environment, but there have been great strides after those first few rough lessons were learned. As nuclear energy continues to be developed and more uses are found outside of the energy sector for nuclear materials, this particular niche will continue to grow and become more profitable.
Clean Coal
Coal is an energy source that has been under quite a bit of scrutiny over the last decade or so. Being one of the dirtiest forms of carbon energy, there has been a significant movement to either clean it up or do away with it entirely. Recognizing the need for change, the coal industry has invested significant funding into the research of clean coal that will allow the continued usage of coal as an energy source.
